yesterday while i was playing gears of war 5 i had a bosd error. before i could note what the error was the computer restarted. i only saw the words read/write or something similar. I updated all drivers, removed 3rd party software, ran memtest and ram is good. After performing all the updates i decided to rerun gears 5 again for about 5-10 minutes and everything seemed fine, however upon opening the event viewer after closing the game i noticed a ton of event 51 errors (an error was detected on device \device\harddisk2\dr2 during a paging operation. after trying to research this online i could not understand it. Could this be what caused the bosd error? this is my first pc build so i am new to a lot of this.

Probably. Try running chkdsk /r from a command prompt as Administrator to scan for bad sectors. It may take a while to scan...
i ran the command prompt and checked both drives but it found no bad sectors.

also new update. I ran diablo 3 on bnet and borderlands 2 on steam and while i was playing i did not receive the same errors i receive while playing gears of war 5 on xbox companion.

You might have fixed it already updating the drivers but in case it happens again,

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

copy that file to documents
upload the copy from documents to a file sharing web site, and share the link in your thread so we can help fix the problem

99% of the time you can ignore errors in event viewer, they were one off errors and unlikely to happen again (unless tied to a BSOD). even in a perfectly working system there will still be errors in there. I don't look in here or reliability history if my PC is working normally. It can make you worry about nothing.

ok will do! thank you very much. I had no bad sectors but maybe the command prompt chkdsk /r fixed the problem on the drive i had my games on. because in the details it specifically identifies my 2nd ssd. It is a newer kingston model and i downloaded the program from them that checks the firmware and it is up to date. I am beginning to understand what you mean. i feel obligated and a bit paranoid that i have those errors in event viewer. But i feel overwhelmed trying to address every single one. I just want to enjoy my computer.

ok so just an update if anyone cares. I opened event viewer while playing gears of war 5 and literally every second the above warning is created in event viewer (event 51 - an error was detected on device \device\harddisk2\dr2 during a paging operation). I do randomly get other warnings such as shadow disk was removed or hard disk was removed etc. I have ran the command prompt chkdsk and all firmware is up to date. however, when i play diablo 3 or borderlands 2 on steam i have no warnings created in event viewer. Although i did discover on a side note that the judder i was experiencing in borderlands 2 was almost completely resolved by turning down the mouse sensitivity to about 25 in the in game settings. I guess my razer lancehead mouse has a dpi to high for the game? i know you can turn down the setting itself on the mouse but lowering it made the judder worse. Any way I have uninstalled gears of war 5 and re installed last night. I will test out and see if I am still getting those warnings.
