Ok. So here it is. I built a pc

Power supply- RN 1000 corsair
CPU-i7-4770k
Msi Z97 motherboard
Case- thermaltake lvl 10gt tower black
750gb hardrive.

Here's the story. I ddnt ha e the money to buy a graphic card yet; but I had this e-Geforrce 8800 GTS laying around and I decided to use it and when I plugged it in everything just buzz and turned off. i unplugged it and won't turn back on. The motherboard has a led power button lit up. When I turn the power supply off it turns off and on. My case light doesn't turn on either. Now when I plugged it in I used a 6 pin to 6pin y-splitter cuz I couldnt find any other cord for sale to power it. Before I go out and build another computer can someone here help me. Idk what's wrong I would greatly appreciate the knowledge so I don't do this again and learn from my mistakes. Hopefully not and expensive mistake. I can send photos if nesscicary hell even live stream.

Solution
Well, you are not supposed to do it like that !!!! Power MUST BE OFF when you do anything inside and not only turned off but also disconnected completely. Who knows what may be blown now.

No. I plugged it in with the power cord connected to the power source and turned it on; it buzzed and turned off. I go to hit the power button again and nothing. I unplugged the graphics card at this time; and tried the power button again but nothing. 24 hr later as still nothing.

Thanks you. I guess I'm skewed. How do I know if I can salvage anything for my computer. Also I'm thinking about getting this ASUS Z97-A/USB 3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel motherboard to replace the one that's fried. I just hope the CPU isn't fried. Can you tell me if this new mother board is compatible with GeForce thx 1080 graphics card.
