evga 1070 power cables

i have bought the EVGA GTX 1070 SC Black Edition ACX 3.0
and it has a single 8pin power plug
my psu has 550 w and 2 6+2 pin pci-e power cables
the card came with an adptor that turns 2-6pins to 1-8pin
should i use it or should i just connect the 6+2 to my gpu?
