Hey I just got a 3080 and it needs 3 8 pin connectors.

My PSU has 2 slots for cpu 8 pin and 4 vga 8 pin slots. I only have one of the original vga cables to 2 6+2 pin.

I asked on a hardware store and they gave me a very similar looking type 4 cable 8 pin to 6+2 that says pci-e. This however won’t connect to the VGA slots but looks like it could fit on the CPU slot.

Is it safe to use this on the CPU slot and connect it to the GPU?

This is how the type 4 cable looks:

Not in Europe sadly. Will it work tho?

Alternatively can I just power the 3080 with the 8 vga to 2 x 6+2 pin? This seems worse haha.
The problem is that only EVGA cables are guaranteed to be compatible. All cables are the same at the component end but they may be different at the end that plugs into the power supply. They are not standardized so there's a risk that the pinouts are different. No, you can't just use 2 of the connectors for the GPU. It needs all three.

Why don't you just get the right cable? EVGA sells them. If you click the compatibility tab lower down the page you'll see the 750 G3 is listed for use with this cable and it appears to be in-stock at the time of this post.

As stated. It's not an EVGA cable. You need EVGA cables for an EVGA PSU.

Hard to believe someone at a computer store wouldn't know this.
