Evga e geforce 8800 gt

when i install my evga e geforce 8800gt video card on my dell optiplex gx 280 (the one that opens up sideways not just by removing the cover on the side) the cpu fan speeds up to top speed after like a second or two and i get no display not even from my onboard video..i have a 600w power supply so i dont think its the power supply

could be the 8800 gt card that is defective

it was working when the guy that sold it to me had it

i have been reading around that there are compatibility issues with some cards with 1.0 pci express slots...could that be it???

ask him to show you the 8800 gt working your computer should take her if card is good and installed correctly

ok i'll have to check it out with him and see if he can get it to work
im open to other suggestions though to see if i can get it to work
does it make a difference on what os im running??

could it be the thermal fluid in the cpu
its really old and dry

should work even if this is a old card the os does not matter a card with the good driver work except if she's out

i cant get it to load though so i cant install a driver for it

so get the guy who sold you this make her work in front of you or ask him to refund since it sell you a defective card

i didnt notice this before but on my dell it has service lights that tell you what potentially could be the problem and they pointed out it was the graphics card

the 4 led on the back of the case and the tell you what is wrong in user manual
