I have an evga 1070 ftw2 and an evga 650 watt psu. The card needs two 8 pin connections. The psu came with a 2x8(6+2) pin cable, the problem is the space between the window of my case and the ports is too small(when the section of cable between the two 8 pin connectors folds, it bumps into the window). I have been using two separate 1x8(6+2) pin cables to fix this problem(using the VGA1 and VGA2 ports on the psu). Could this potential send too much power to the card and end up frying the components?

Thanks. I asked because my card recently went out(I only had it for one month and have already sent it in for the warranty) and don't want a repeat(in case it was partially my fault).
I was going to buy a powerlink for that when I first installed the card, but the cable would bump into the side of the casel(or into the fans). If the powerlink connected to the psu from the bottom, everything would be great but it doesn't.
