No man it's not about that! I agree with most of your post but i just dissagree that the 4870 and gtx-260 are parallel in performance.

The op want's the best performance for his money and the 4870 is the better buy right now. But if the op want's the gtx-260 then i think ethier one of the cards he chose will work just fine.

When people ask for an opinion on what card is best we should not let our biased turn them to a more expensive card that perform's less. The 4870 just does perform better! Much like when i bought my 8800GT the GTX still performed better even though ton'a of 8800GT people wanted to tote and say the 8800GT performed the same for way less cash.

Peace

You might as well have quoted my post because you just reworded and repeated everything I said already. Just because I don't fall over drooling over a graphics card like a lot of people on this forum doesn't mean I don't see the merit in it. I already bloody said that the 4870 is a better buy, but the fact is if you already own a good SLI board then buying a 4870 makes zero sense, the best performance value would be waiting for a 4870x2.

I think half the problem is with this 4870 discussion is that when people talk about it they blow it out of proportion or use selective benchmarks to try and inflate how good the card is. Sure the 4870 is a nice card, but its performance is hardly ground breaking in this day and age even if the price makes it an attractive piece of hardware - the 4870x2 if technologically sound should be a much better card than the 4870; if anything i'd say that i'm disappointed with the 4870 because AMD hasn't made an advanced crossfire interconnect for dual gpus that they say they are adding to the 4870x2. Maybe this isn't possible, but I really think its more of a marketing ploy for the 4870x2 than an actual hardware limitation.

I think the best buy in the AMD gpus right now is the 4850 or the 4850 crossfire; but the 4870 is very underwhelming in comparison to the 4850. And when the 4870x2 comes out it'll make crossfire 4870s look like crap too.

Hey ive got a BFG GTX 260 OC and i was looking into buying another one but the new ones are core55, wondering if anybody can tell me whether or not they would be compatible to SLI with eachother?

Thanks
