EVGA step up program

I have a few questions about this service:

1. Do you need a warranty with your current card?
2. Does it work when there are evga graphics card sales on say newegg.com?

My plan is to "step up" from my gtx 750 ti to a GTX 960 once I get the money.

Solution
I can confirm that SBMtromLA has provided the information that I would have offered, but just a quick recap for you.

1. The EVGA Graphics card needs to be purchased new from an authorized EVGA re-seller.
2. The product needs to be registered at EVGA.com within 14 days of the purchase or have a extended warranty purchased on the product to qualify.
3. The Step-up request will be available to submit for 90 days from the original purchase date as long as number 1 and 2 are true.
4. The Step-up will give you credit for what you paid originally for your EVGA product minus any taxes, shipping, or processed rebates and this will be applied towards the new card that you are stepping up to.
5. The Step-up program requires that all of the...
I've done that once... I bought the 8800GTS 640MB and a few days later the 8800GTS-512MB came out. The process was quick and simple.. but there are limitations:

First you have to register your card with Evga within 14 days if it has a 3-year warranty or 90 days if it has a lifetime warranty. You can buy your first card from any authorized reseller... However, to get the step-up card... you MUST buy it from Evga... after you register your card... you can check to see if it qualifies for this program. After you unlock it.. you have 90 days to buy the new card from them.

One last thing... if you didn't register your card soon enough... they will allow you to still qualify for the Step-Up Program if.. and only if... you buy the extended warranty from them for your current card.

To me.. the Step-up Program really is meant to get a new/better that was recently released after you just bought like an older version of that card series... a good example is the 8800GTS that I bought. You might do better just selling your current card on Craigslist and buying the new card on Newegg.
