Evga Z75 SLI mobo

I'm putting together a system for my buddy under 900 bucks and can't seem to get any reviews for the EVGA Z75 SLI mobo. I like Evga as I have a P55 SLI now with 2 9800GTX+ and haven't had a problem.

What do you all know about this mobo? I cant even find hardly anything on the EVGA forums!Here's the complete list of componets.

EVGA Z75 SLI Motherboard Review

It looks like the Z75 SLI has issues with 4K random transfers – the most common hard drive usage on a desktop PC. We’re waiting to hear back from EVGA on the chance of a BIOS update addressing this issue. The Z75 SLI hasn’t received a BIOS update since it was released, so it’s possible that these performance problems will be addressed.

other than that, which could get addressed with an updated BIOS, looks nice. but check for a BIOS update before considering purchasing.

Still no bios update. I've read that article before as well. And I just found it for 50 dollars cheaper than it was on newegg. Thanks for responding.

to be honest, i would be a little leery in getting it. you do not have an SSD now but in the future if its not addressed that will affect its performance.

The problem is every mobo that I that I researched in the 100-175 price range thats been reviewed has issues. Literally every one that I have looked into. Either DOAs or dead ram slots, dead PCIe slots usb ports... Either that it only has 5 postive reviews on Amazon or Newegg. I just want this build to work!

please ignore the "feedback" on new egg and amazon. most of them are morons who have problems tying a shoe lace.

also most feedback happens when there is a complaint; i do not believe it is a valid sample of all buyers.

as you are finding out; the possibility of getting a DOA or a flonky component is part of the process. if you find having to ship a product back for a replacement as inconvenient, then go to a brick and mortar store. but then the selection is limited and prices are higher. but you can walk in with a failed mobo and walk out with a replacement; there are trade offs.

I can understand that.But the question is how can you trust newegg reviews there no proof just things wrote by strangers you don't know without any proof to back up the things written.I would not trust it.

you do know that a Q77 motherboard cannot overclock, a Z77 or Z75 is needed for an unlocked multiplier for a K series cpu.

That I didnt know!! What is the bios totally locked multiplier and bclock?He's not an overclocker really anyway. But in a few years he might want to. I thought I'd buy him an unlocked procesor so once he got more into computers he could get his OC on. Guess I'll just save him 20 bucks and buy a locked processor. Its either that or find a decent Z77 mobo.

what is he going to be doing?

if its just some browsing and watching videos then there are a few lower budget options. here is an article for AMD build, though i am a bit more of an intel fan some of the building does make good sense for a price/performance stand point:

but i digress: if you want some advice on the evga Z77 SLI ; you may want to aviod that; as much as i have had great experiences with the customer support of that company, some of their motherboards do get left out in the cold. about 5 years ago i had a 730i that came with an "engineering" BIOS and only had one update. it never gave me a problem and was a great board for the price but, i really prefer getting an a motherboard from a comnpany that provides better updating support.

Don't need anything but a reliable MOBO for under 175 thats PCIe 3.0 Ivy bridge compatable. Hopefully someone that has a Evga Z75 will cime in. Thanks for your help. I'm checking out your links now. My p55 SLI has had a respectable amount of updates and all my EVGA stuff has worked great. But they need to get that BIOS out. I really wanted to buy an EVGA mobo...

Thanks for your help. I've spent the last 3 days reading literaly 12 hours a day on all the motherboards on the pcpartpicker list and crosschecking them against anand toms and newegg reviews. Saddly there are a tiny few that don't have at least a 15%-20% DOA or other critical problem. I am at this point thinking about not building this for my buddy at all. I dont want to be blamed for a Fail. Really sad they can't do better than this.

I have another friend that owns a computer store. I'll just give the parts to him to build. He voluntered
