So I was thinking about writing some fictiony things and I randomly wrote a
line that caught me off guard and got me thinking.

How long did the First Age last? Were the Solars who were slain the ones
who themselves killed the Primordials? Or were they a generation or more
removed?

I calculated this a while ago, actually.

We know Chejop Kejak was born very soon after the end of the Primordial
War. Geoff said something like "He didn't see the war, but he saw
pretty much everything afterwards." At the moment, he's about to die.
Since Sidereals live anywhere between 3,000 to 5,000 years, this means
we know roughly how long it's been since the beginning of the First Age.

It's been 750 years since the Great Contagion and the founding of the
Scarlet Dynasty. Before that, the Dragon Shogunate lasted for about 750
years. So It's been 1,500 years since the Usurpation.

3,000 minus 1,500 is 1,500. 5,000 minus 1,500 is 3,500. The First Age
lasted anywhere between 1,500 and 3,500 years. Since Chejop Kejak is
said to be the oldest Sidereal, I suspect his lifespan is nearer to the
long side of the scale than the short side. I'd bet on the First Age
lasting at least 3,000 years.

This means, I think, that the First Age was long enough for about two
generations of Solars. The really decadent and evil ones were the ones
that never experienced the Primordial War.

The length of the Primordial War is never explicitly given, either. It
is quite reasonable that some of the Exalted who began it were elders or
perhaps even dead of natural causes by the time it started.

Although if you died of old age during the First War, you probably
weren't trying very hard.

I'm assuming you mean "by the time it ended" or "by the time the First Age
started". Correct?

Heh. Indeed. ^_^

Is it ever stated somewhere that Kejak isn't cheating and using
artifacts/hearthstones to further extend his lifespan? Because, y'know, it
seems like the sort of thing he'd do. "I must defy my Fate to protect all
of Fate!"

The Peaches of Immortality sidebar in Exalted: The Sidereals mentions
that Sidereal Exalts are utterly unable to magically extend their
lifespans by any means whatsoever.

The Primordial War was long enough that breeding an army out of a
long-lived people was seen as a desireble strategy.

I assume there were some DAMN long seiges in that war.

Or were very, very good. Both of them probably got teased by the
other Solars, though.
