I tried to download a file and got this error message so I researched it to configure my connection limit and it told me to type "about:config" in the address bar and a page would open up that said "Advanced Preferences". I didn't get that page but I got a page with a long list of things I didn't understand. But I did find "http.max-persistent-connections-per-server" which was set at 6. I changed it to 10. I don't know if I did the right thing and I don't know if it helped. I couldn't find a way to configure my connections in Firefox Preference Settings. I've never ever had problems downloading files or multiples files at the same time. Did I do the right thing or is there something else I should do? I'm using Windows 10 and Firefox is up-to-date.

the server apparently has limited how many connections you can have to it at one time.

you said your firefox was set to 6 which is too many for the server. so you want to lower it, not raise it higher. try setting it at 4 and go lower until the error stops from the other end. the server might even be set to 1 for all you know. would not be the first time i have seen such things.

usually means the server is very small and can't handle getting hammered for tons of connection requests. so you limit each user to 1 or 2 at the most.

I've never had any problem with multiple downloads from my filehosts. I can download 6-8 files easily at the same time with no problem. For some reason this filehost I usually use the other day gave me an error message and said I exceeded the max connections on the server..
