Exchanging Hard drives

My situation is that I have two hard drives, one is an SSD the other an OLD HDD, both were on different sets of systems.

I would like to remove the system with the HDD(Full files and XP OS) and replace that with the SSD(Full files and Windows 8 OS).

I heard from a friend that by doing this it would malfunction the computer, is it safe to do so or are there precaution methods to go about? Thank you.

Wow, your friend really has no clue what he's talking about.
Many systems run on SSDs only.
An SSD will probably be much more reliable than your old HDD.

if you are saying that you want to replace your old hdd with an ssd that already has a windows install on it then your friend is right.it may or may not,but most likely not work,or even boot due to driver conflicts alone.if you want to do a clean install on an ssd for your present system,then it would work just fine.
