Because of dual-bios, updating my BIOS can't harm in any way, correct? I might as well try before sending my ram sticks in for RMA? Just confirm yes/no, maybe give a few tips for flashing.

I would update the bios, is unlikely to cause any problems on machines built in the last 7 years.
Often the first bios will just have default timing for some basic memory modules, later the primary and secondary memory timings will be refined and updates and the memory compatibility like will be expanded to include other memory stick.
each motherboard version will have different delays in the circuits that will require the BIOS memory tables to be adjusted.
even when you add more stick of memory to the board you might have to change the memory timing to make it slower.

the most common problem I see on BIOS is that they are set for the higher speed ram and the ram that takes 2 command cycles are added during a update to the BIOS. many people send back the ram and go with another brand when the new ram also does not work correctly. sometimes you just need to set the command rate to 2T or 2N or move the ram slots to the slots that are closer to the CPU just to get the slight 9 NS speed increase.

I just need confirmation: after extracting the compressed file to a flash drive, I only need to put the F5 file on, not the application, right?

Alright I'm f5 now... the problem has not been fixed. Faulty memory? It's unfortunate that I need to pay to ship them back their product, when they are the ones who screwed up. Are there any other possibilities?
