Hi Guys,

I have this strange issue which I cant really understand. I use my pc like normal and watch movies ect.... from my internal 2tb HDD, after that a Quick access list is created of all the movies, folders with movies in them I have watched and looked at. I connect my external hard drive into my pc usb port, I then open my external hard drive and then leave the explorer page open which shows the content of my external HDD. I then open "This Pc" from my desktop and and the screen appears that shows all my HDD's and my CD drive and above it shows 6 folders such as: desktop, documents, downloads ect.... and it shows the side panel where it shows the quick access tab, bare in mind the external hard drive is still open behind the "This Pc" screen, and soon as i start removing the folders and movies from my quick access panel by right clicking and unpin from quick access the explorer.exe crashes, I then get shown a blank screen where my desktop is blank and then restarts after a few seconds. I disabled all start up applications and repeated what i was doing and the issue is still there. Does anyone know what is causing this and can anyone help me?

Thank you

what brand external hard drive is it?

Have you updated motherboard drivers, could be USB or chipset

right click start button
choose command prompt (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter

this scans system files and may fix this behaviour

Its a western digital My passport Ultra, and i did a sfc scan all is fine and everything is up to date, the thing is the quick access pins only crash explorer.exe when i start removing them and that is when i have my external hard drive open. Open as I i doubled clicked and viewing the contents of the drive and then going back to the quick access pins and removing them causes the explorer.exe to crash. Without the hard drive I can remove the quick access pins. But I have tested this hard drive on two other pcs doing the exact same thing to see if i can replicate the issue on the other pc's but it does not happen on the other two pc's.

Thank you for the quick reply
