Extend USB cable for Xbox USB Receiver Wireless Gaming Controller Adapter

I have a MS Xbox USB Receiver Wireless Gaming Controller Adapter connected to my PC in an office downstairs. This is the device - https://www.amazon.com/Receiver-Adapter-Wireless-Controller-Windows/dp/B01AJOZVTG

My boys can then play fortnight and other games on the pc connected to a TV in this office using their Xbox controllers. We need to move this TV and to facilitate continued pc game play, want to find a way to keep this adapter connected to my office pc while they play their games on a TV in the family room.

In this same office is my modem and router. I am running ethernet from this room through two adjoining rooms into the lower-level family room to wire up the tv, Xbox, etc. I think I want to run a USB cable extension along with those same ethernet cables. The distance is about 40-50ft.

I understand that I can extend a USB cable, depending on type, eg, 1.1, 2, 3.0, a certain difference before the signal dies. I also understand that I could buy an active repeater, a hub, or possible run the USB signal over ethernet.

So I am looking for some advice on the best approach with a reasonable prices, preferably less than $20 (if that's even realistic). Appreciate the help.

The USB 2.0 specification limits the length of a cable to 5 meters (16 feet and 5 inches). So I think you are aware of this limitation and you cannot just attach a bunch of extension cables together.
You could go above this limitation by using powered USB hub or active USB cables (extension repeaters).
Using a powered USB hub or active USB cables will have the same 5 meters (16 feet and 5 inches) between USB devices including the powered hub.

You could by several USB hubs and several 16 ft. USB cables or buy a long active USB extension repeater

Thanks, I'll check that out. I was also thinking about a usb-to-ethernet adapter but got confused because Im not sure I need to power it or not.

With USB over Ethernet you could cover up to 100 meters (328 feet).
You will need USB over Ethernet adapter, like this one, which needs to be powered.
