I am trying to extend my internet about 3000 feet using a point to point bridge from Microcom. I had thought about using a Ubiquity product, but the Microcom is plug and play - supposedly. Anyone have any advice on this? Also any suggestions on a wireless router to use on the receiving end of the point to point connection. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Not real sure what equipment you mean I never heard of equipment that is actually manufactured by a company called microcom, there appears to be a retail site that sell other vendors equipment including ubiquity.

Ubiquity is very easy to setup in point to point bridge mode. Almost all equipment now days has signal strength indicators that help you align the equipment. You can look at engenius also if you want anther brand. Most home/small business people use either ubiquiti or engenius because of pricing.

There is not a lot to it when you are running simple bridge mode. You put the units in bridge mode, select your encryption keys and you are pretty much done other than mounting them. You start running them in AP mode or...

As to what you put on the far end you likely just need any router running as a AP but it depends on your requirements. Point to point bridges are best thought of as a long ethernet cable from a design. Your can just ignore the fact that there is a radio link in the middle.....at least until a bird sits on your antenna and blocks the signal.

Thank you. The product I was talking about is the EZ-Bridge-Ultra5 or EZ-Bridge Ultra2-LR. I was looking at these because they are supposedly plug and play. Also I can buy at least one of them through Walmart (I can't remember which) and return it within 14 days if it doesn't work. I would like to go with the Ubiquity, but I'm not sure that I can make it work. If anyone has an opinion on this or could suggest which of the two above to use, I would be very grateful. Thanks again.

Go HERE for instructions on how to set up nanobridge P2P.

They say in the first line of instructions: "Restore your radio to FACTORY DEFAULT values." and this is done by pushing the reset button located where the network cable plugs in at the dish.

If only one computer will connected at other end, the switch may be omitted.
