Question external 144hz monitor

Hello, currently I'm connecting my laptop hdmi 2.0 to monitor hdmi 2.0 on my 144hz monitor but it only shows 120hz on my monitor. Anyone can help me out? Thank you

ROG GL553VE laptop and ASUS TUF Gaming Monitor VG249Q 24 inch Full HD 144Hz by using HDMI cables but it only show up to 120hz

Monitor's Hdmi is v1.4 but it should still do 1080p @ 144Hz. Where are you seeing 120Hz? In NvidiaCP or Windows? Either method should set 144Hz correspondingly, but check Window's method anyway.

For Window's Hz setting, right click desktop > display settings > adv display settings > display adapter properties for the ext monitor. See if there's different there.

sorry for the late reply, yeah it only shown 120hz on display setting and it cant get higher than 120hz, I’m still figuring out the issues...
