External Drive is acting strange..

I have windows 7. I plugged it in and it said its recommended to scan and fix. I elected to do so since the previous time I plugged it in (a few minutes prior) it wouldn't let me delete any files. The scanning was taking forever (no progressed had shown to be passed) and I cancelled it. Then it said the drive was unavailable (access denied.) Its currently showing up in computer as a hard disk drive. When I click on it, it says access is denied...

When I try and eject it, I can't because it says its currently in use.
