External hard drive not detected

Hello,
I've got a seagate external hardrive that is detected as a device but doesn't give access to files. Doesn't show up at all in fact. Can't save to it either

Is the drive new?

Couple of questions:

Does this drive appear in BIOS.
Does this drive appear in Disk Management (Right Click on Computer >> Manage >> Disk Management
Was it working fine before
Is it detected in some other computer.

Hi. I've had the same problem and SOLVED it like this:

1. Checked to see if it works with another PC. It does, so the problem is not the drive.
2. Checked drive name assignations. YES. I had uTorrent set to save files to external HD and a direct access shortcut on my desktop but some other USB device (probably an external CD/DVD ROM) hijacked the drive letter E which made the external HD "disappear".
3. Reassign the drive letter you want to the external HD at control panel>performance & maintenance>administration tools > system manager>disk manager
