I have 1 TB external hard drive and locked it using with bit locker in win 10. I tried to format this to check whether i can format this after encrypting it or protecting it with pass, to my surprise hard drive was formatted. whats the point of pass protecting the hard drive with bit locker if any one can format it without a password.

Can any tell me how can i solve above issue ?

You can not really prevent formatting.
You even do not have to boot to Windows to format a HDD.
Using bootable Linux devices e.g. live CD, you can already format a HDD.
There are plenty of ways.
I do not think you can prevent HDD format.
My first guess: BitLocker would prevent an intruder easily reading and/or writing into your data files because the HD & files themselves are encrypted; however, it can do nothing to save the HD from a format.

I see Jed and I posted at the same time :)

Thank you for ans. i am looking for a way to prevent anyone from formatting my external hard drive without a pass.

One would have to find and purchase an industrial-strength business program, NCIS or FBI level, that would be powerful enough, once installed, to govern UEFI or BIOS, control [deny] access to all ports allowing external devices, lock down the boot, load, startup. Prepare to pay a king's ransom.
