External hard drive

I noticed that Windows 7 takes a bit longer to read my photo & video files specially those in my external hard drive. I have to wait for that green bar on top to completely fill-up before accessing my files. Usually takes about 2-3 minutes for each folder. My other laptop which runs on XP displays the files quickly. Help...

It's most likely indexing the files. You can tell windows not to index that drive or folder.

If that still does not work, try disable thumbnail.
