External Hard Drive

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, my computer couldn't "see" the files on my external hard drive. On "Properties (on the external hard drive) I had to unclick the box that states "Allow the files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties".

Then, the files became visible and available.

Question: Is it bad not to have those files indexed?

Indexing just makes it easier to search the files. Its not essential.

You probably need new drivers for the external drive, look at the web site of the people who made it.
