I have a 1TB external drive that was given to me. However it only shows up as 30GB. The person I got it from said that it was used to download Windows 10 recovery software and it reformatted it to 30GB. Is there anyway that I can recover the lost space?

Solution
Go to diskmgmnt, and you may see the additional space in an empty partition. Like the previous person, if you don't mind losing data, delete the old partition and create a new one by right clicking and you will see the options.

There won't be an empty partition.
It was formatted FAT32...32GB.
The 'data' was simply the Windows install.

It needs to be completely reformatted NTFS.
