Question External hard drives - - - - exFAT versus NTFS ?

I have several external drives I use for storage and noticed that some are exFAT and some are NTFS.
In an all Windows workflow should I reformat all of them to NTFS?
What about a mixed Windows/Linux setup?

linux can read ntfs just fine, use exfat if you want to connect drive to something else like TV where NTFS isnt supported

It doesn't matter. But if the primary use for the external drives is cold storage (as opposed to keeping it plugged in all the time and used), then I would say exFAT is slightly better for that purpose. Plus exFAT has better support on any random device due to it being the portable file system of choice since the SD card association uses it by default.

If you have a lot of small files, the default cluster size for exFAT will waste a lot of space.
