My Western Digital 250gig external harddrive will not let me put any file on it larger than 4 gigs. I am trying to back up some movies that I am making, is there any way around this?

Unfortunately, it means you have to completely wipe the drive, so you'll want to back up everything on the drive. Once you have done that, go to "my computer" (or just "computer" in Vista) in the start menu, right click on the drive, and click "Format". Make sure NTFS is selected in the file system menu, and hit OK. Once that is complete, you should be able to add files of any size.
