It's an external Seagate 2TB drive (STBV2000200).

Basically I used to use it only as a backup drive for important documents and then just a collection of music etc. that I didn't want to go through the trouble of downloading or importing should my laptop/desktop drives fail and no data be salvageable. I tried to transfer the files i had over to my new desktop and some of them produced an error, I can't remember it right now honestly it happened a few weeks ago and i had completely forgotten i was going to look into it. I got pretty much all the important files off but there was a large section that were corrupt or something and would not transfer.

In any case i am currently running a windows error check on it via my laptop but it looks to have just frozen. I've attached a screenshot of what I'm looking at right now. I understand these tests can take a while but I assume that it's meant to at least display something? It was showing changing numbers presumably as it was reading the drive but after about 3 minutes it just displayed "1024" and hasn't changed. I've got no problem really leaving it running but if it's just going to stay stuck attempting to read the same bad sector then I'd rather just accept that it's screwed and buy another. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Update: Just got back from the store and noticed the blue light has started flashing on/off. Given i don't ever remember it doing that before I'm assuming that it's not a good sign...

Solution
The re-allocated sectors raw value is unacceptable; too high! Replace this HDD as soon as possible. Do not continue to use this HDD.

When the re-allocated sectors raw value is above 1, I usually replave the HDD on my computers.

Running the HD Tune error check now and already reporting damaged sectors. The health tab showed the following:
