So I have a really weird problem now with my external hard disk.

and I already check with other PC and it have the same problem (I myself using laptop btw).

The HDD can plugged in normally, the light is on indicating its connected, but usually if its working normally, the lights will flickering, now its just on like freezing.

So I kinda know that my HDD already having some kind of issue, and might want to format it and recover some data later on.

Now this where its going crazy, I cannot format it, because the hdd cannot be read (its not visible on the partition? where you can see local disc c and something like that, my hdd is usually local disc h btw)

but when I unplugging it, it read normally for like a second and unplugged again, so its like when I plugged it in, it cannot be read, unless I unplugged it, but it just there for a second and it unplugged normally.

So I try plugging it, unplugging, and plugging it back fast when the hdd recognize it, and finally formatting question is appear.

I click format, but because its plugged in, It cannot be read, I unplugged it and the format is on process, but only for a split second again and formatting failed cause I unplugging it, Im so stressful with this now.

Try to open it on device management, its loading as if to search where the hdd, I unplugged it and dvcmgmt read it on split second again before dissapearing.

When I try to shut down my laptop while its plugged in, my laptop will not shuttin down (only on the start screen where you usually see after windows logo) and keep loading, not until I unplugged my hdd again that my laptop shut down normally.

Now, my hdd is working normally, when my hdd start to become like this is, I plugged my phone to my laptop as well when hdd still plugged, and then I want to copy some photo form it to my phone, the thing is my hdd starting to open slowly and cause I want to get it done fast, I unplugged it and from there my hdd cannot be read again.

I don't know if I can fix this problem, I know my data probably already gone on this point, but at least I want to use thos hdd again if I could format it, any help will be appreciated.

thanks....

Solution
Unplugging and re-plugging external drive without safe removal first will surely mess up file system.
Don't do that.

What you have to do is:
  • remove hdd from external enclosure,
    connect to a desktop pc with sata cables (data+power);
    diagnose it properly and
    recover your data.

BTW - what model external drive is that?
