So this External HDD, shows up as Local Disk, no autoplay, Cant rename it (although i can rename it, but the name doesn't stick)!
It shows as local disk only on my computer! everywhere else ie on disk management, device manager, etc it shows the name that i have given - Vdrive!! any help to get it back to being detected as removable disk n show the name that i gave???

Welcome to the community, Vishal!

Since the external drive is accessible, I'd suggest you to back up your data somewhere else before proceeding with the troubleshooting.
Next thing I'd do is try to resolve the issue by assigning a different drive letter to the HDD through Disk Management. Here's a tutorial that explains how to do that: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=EIxU2E
If that doesn't help, maybe you should consider re-installing all your USB drivers from Device Manager. Check this MS KB tutorial: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725782.aspx
Another thing you should definitely do is check up on the health and SMART status of the external (just in case) using your HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool. You should be able to find that one on their website.

Keep me posted!

Thank you for your quick reply sir!! i will sure try what u have suggested, but since i do not have a secondary storage to backup my huge data i'm going to do a backup up on my friend's drive, it may take a day or two, thanks for providing me with the hope that it can be restored to its original state! will ping back as soon as its done.

UPDATE: i tried changing the drive letter as u have suggested but without backing up any data (as AOMEI partition allows this) but the drive still has the same problem, i will surely try your other suggestions!

UPDATE #2 : the drive getting detected as the internal hard drive with the internal hard disk's name (seagate "model number") pic attached :

this is when i used hard drive inspector (its the drive letter I in the pic) so does this say anything about the fact that its being detected as an internal hdd?
also i did the uninstall driver and reinstalled it but no change? :(

SOLVED it finally!!! i had used an application called USBFix and had chosen to vaccinate the hdd with their method of doing so and without my notice it had placed a folder called Autorun.inf and within it lpt1usbfix. This file apparently was showing the label as local disk in my computer. But the thing is that i could not delete it manually but then i searched for a way to delete it from their site which said :
"To remove autorun.inf folder, use MKV : http://www.telecharger.sosvirus.net/download/mkv/
Run MKV.exe and press “supprimer la vaccination”."

I did that and restarted, and voila! the folder was gone and the name showed! :)
P.S. USBfix is a an awesome utility, i'm not discouraging it!
