USB 3.0 supposed to be 5gb/s transfer rate, that's 600mB/s. I'm making a backup of my files in this drive and I'm only getting about 100mB/s transfer speed.

Solution
100MB is pretty quick.

The short answer is that is decent HD performance for a consumer HDD. You would need a faster drive for faster performance, the USB 3.0 port isn't being bottlenecked. Most SSD's don't even run at 600 MB/s, http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/

If you want better performance, you would be better to get a multi-disk NAS device and copy through the network.

What's the write speed of the HD? You may be looking at the wrong bottleneck.
What's the read speed of your drive?

I'm using Seagate Expansion Portable Drive. Both ports are USB 3.0, it didn't say the specs on the box nor the guide.
