Hi,

I have a question? I bought a external ssd drive and I cannot seem to get windows 10 on it. I want to put windows 10 on it. It has more storage space. I can't seem to do it is there a way atrick or something that will allow me to do it. I mean a drive is a drive. I hope it can be done.

Thank you!

If you wanted to do that, I'd have suggested adding a hot swap drive bay.... you wouldn't be able to hot swap but if turning on the machine at boot, you could select the drive in BIOS in the boot order and then boot successfully. What is the connection type ... if USB, the MoBo can see the drive for example until Windows loads the USB driver in a normal USB port. Might work, but not sure if you can use the special USB boot connection on the I/O panel that you can install OS from with that type of external device. I tried this once even witha 64 GB USB stick and Windows would not install.... the other 32 GB one worked fine

So you could run windows on the 32 gig usb stick? then I'm not really sure what to do I guess I will just use the external usb 480 gb extreme 500 portable ssd it's a Sandisk. I don't want the drive to act like an internal I just want windows to load on it is all. It's dissapointing is all.

thanks.

Yes, you can not do that but you can add an additional internal storage device and run Windows on that.
