Hi everyone,

I have an issue with my External SSD Device when I insert it into the PC it shows up on Disk Management as 'Disk 2, No Media' and on Device Manager there seems to be no problem showing.

The issue I have is that I cant access my USB device all of a sudden as it wont show up in Windows Explorer

This usb device is a Verbatim store n go 128gb ssd, It's not even a month old yet and this has occurred.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance

Hey there, Remiss!

I'd recommend you to try the external on another computer and see if you can access it from there, and I'd also try swapping it between the USB ports on your PC. Another thing worth the try is booting Windows into Safe Mode and plug the external then, see if it will get recognized properly.

When you right-click on the drive in Disk Management, do you have the option to change the drive letter and paths?
If you do have it, change the letter of the external HDD. Here's a tutorial you can use: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=5YI5Rs

Hope this helps you! Keep me updated! :)

Hey SuperSoph_WD

Thanks for you advice, I tried it on another computer and it does exactly the same think, I plug it into the usb port, the computer makes a the usual system noise it flashes twice and then nothing comes up on My Computer. I also tried all my other ports, still nothing different happens.

I also took your advice and booted into Safe Mode and my usb drive pops but But as Removable Disk (G:) rather than REMI-1. Also when I right click and check the properties both the Free Space & Used Space are on 0 bytes. I clicked onto the Hardware Tab and I can see the name of my External SSD 'Verbatim USB External SSD USB Device' and the Device states states that 'This Device is working properly'

When I check the Universal Serial Bus controllers on Device Manager there seems to be no issues, None of them have a triangular warning sign next to them which is usually what happens when there is a problem.

So I don't really know what to do, or how to get my files from there..

If it helps this is not the first time this has happened to me, only last month I had a Phillips Circle USB 3.0 Device that did exactly the same thing. It was working fine then all of a sudden didn't. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with these usb devices I bought this one thinking solid state drives don't get easily corrupted if that is the case but this one hasn't even lasted a month and I'[m getting this problem, I really am so confused..
