Extracting files from old western digital wd1600jb-00rea0

I have an old hard drive with music and games stored on it, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to extract the files. I used to not be a newb, but now I am and I am looking for some help. Can someone please let me know the best/easiest way to extract thes files? I will be putting them onto my laptop internal hard drive.

What I usually do is make whatever drive I want data from a slave in a PC and just copy what I need from it.

Although, this can be trickier with a laptop so I use a desktop.

There are also USB to SATA/IDE interfaces that you can use.
