Hi everyone,

I'm having this extraction issue that I'm confused about (I'm putting it in this category because I think it may be an issue with my HDD itself, but not sure).

When extracting any archives with WinRar and 7zip on this harddrive (E:) with all my downloads go into, what used to take less than a minute has gone up to 15+ minutes. Small archives went from seconds to couple minutes.

I transferred over the same .zip/.rar files to all my other HDD/SSD, they extract like normal, quick and painless.

Is this a sign that my hard drive is about to fail?

Storage List
C: SSD, OS
D: HDD, Programs
E: HDD Extra Storage <- Slow extraction
F: HDD Extra Storage
G: USB3 External

Thanks in advance!

Hey there tluu12.

If there's any doubt that there might be something wrong with your drive, I'd recommend that you backup your important data to another drive, just to be on the safe side. Then I'd suggest that you download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool (or a 3rd party diagnostic tool if the manufacturer doesn't offer one) to test the drive and see if any errors or bad sectors pop-up.

Please let me know what are the results.
