Eyefinity question

I recently purchased an extra monitor (already had 1 monitor and my TV connected to my PC) and I want to use both of the monitors and the TV.
I have the two monitors connected via DVI and my TV via HDMI but I obviously have to connect 1 via DisplayPort.

My video card came with a little adapter (Mini DP>DP) and I wanted to get a regular DisplayPort cable and connect it to one of my monitors.
Would that work? Does that adapter have to be active and is there even such a thing as active and passive Mini DP>DP adapters? My monitor does support DisplayPort by the way.

Graphics card and monitors:
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870
Monitor: 2x Dell U2312HM FullHD IPS Monitors + 32'' Philips FullHD TV

I just want to be sure before I buy a €30 cable and it ends up not working.

if your monitor natively supports displayport u do not an an active/passive displayport adapter, you just need the cable to connect DP on your GPU to DP on your monitor

The output on my video card is Mini DisplayPort. The input on my monitor is regular DisplayPort.

Displayport and Mini-Displayport are the exact same connector, just made smaller. Using any Displayport - Mini Displayport adapter will work fine.

Fairly sure for Eyefinity to work all the screens need to be of the same resolution. Otherwise it will lower the resolution to the lowest resolution available across all of them.

Also nice setup you have there, gave me an idea for the desktop on my triple screen setup 😀.

I thought the exact same but wanted to be sure so thank you for your reply. I'll buy a Displayport cable today and update you guys tonight. And all the monitors support 1920x1080 so that should be fine 😀

I'm just going to use this setup for now. I'll continue to save up for another monitor and a better graphics card.
