Eyefinity?

So I was considering Eyefinity.

I would only need 3 moniters, a display port cable thing, and a 58xx seris card right? (Slower cards have trouble with high res)

Could I run Eyefinity on 2 48xx cards?

Or are 5xxx seris cards the only one that can handle it?

You would be able to simulate Eyefinity with SoftTH. However, I would not recommend this unless you already have 3 monitors. The 4000 series just doesn't support the hardware. Like i said, it can be simulated.

If you're going to be buying extra monitors, you may as well do it right and get the hardware that supports it.

As you can see, only a list of games are compatible with this.

Here is a list of games officially supported by Eyenfinity which is much bigger and has new games while the software simulation does not have new games:

So bassicaly don't run 3 moniters of a 4870X2 and a 4870?

Stick to a 5970?

I would not want to do it personally. Reviewing their forums, they're having issues with many new games: Metro 2033, BC2, Dirt2, WoW, Just Cause 2. That's just reading the titles on the forum posts.

I think what he's trying to get at is this, if you are not going to do it right (buying the extra monitors and a 5XXX series card) then don't even bother.

Yea more or less. What I'm seeing with SoftTH is a buggy outdated program that is a big downgrade from eyefinity to the point that its not worth doing if you have to invest in the software solution. Of course you could piece it together over time ie getting the monitors set up then a video card that has the hardware support. I foresee a big disappointment with anything other than eyefinity.
