fail installing windows 8

ok, so i tried installing windows 8.1 in my win 7 pc

but it says "we couldnt install windows 8.1 so your pc is back to its original state before starting the instalation" or something like that

why is it happening?
could it be that my mobo and cpu are not compatible?
or any other reason?

what do you experts thing about windows 10? should i go for it or just stick with windows 7?

maybe your os installation disk is corrupted, share your pc rig for more helpful answers from members.

Upgrading to windows 10 have plenty of advantages like directX 12, customization, user friendly UI, better animation etc etc...

well i have a pentium dual core E5500 2.8 ghz and a gtx 650
but tomorrow ill buy a i5 4440 3.1ghz

so only windows 10 is able to run direct x 12?

yes, but there are some rumors about windows 8.1 that it will get directX 12
