I have 2 storage units, 1 is a 120gb SSD for boot and the other is a 2tb HDD.
In order to get things to auto-install on the HDD I needed to change settings in Registry Editor.
Because of this every windows update I attempt fails to install.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
I would prefer not to change it back to the default settings because then I would need to reinstall a plethora of programs to function properly.
I have tried many different methods to fix this but all have failed.

Thanks!

Also, forgot to mention it was this update:
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4013429)

Solution
its every update because windows isn't granular enough for you to set one location for programs and one for updates. So it breaks windows update if you change that location. Upside might be you also won't get any app updates from the store but if you used them, they also broken.

drivers are also all hard codes to expect they are on C so you might find updates for them won't work either.

There is no easy fix, you either get no updates or have to reinstall a ton of programs.

Windows is easy enough to break without going into registry. MSCONFIG is bad enough for some people... i install all applications to C (as they will need to be reinstalled wiht windows anyway) and yet I have only used 48gb off the ssd and 2tb drive gets all the big things like One Drive, music folder and steam library. Its easy enough to do without editing registry

Thanks for the help!
Although, I have another question.
How would I change it back?
Also, is there a way to do this so I don't need to install EVERYTHING again or so that I can just move it over and windows can still view it as an actual program?

Is this what you did as no where do they point out this breaks updates as well: http://www.intowindows.com/change-default-installation-directory-in-windows-7-vista/ - you could justy set the 2 values back to what they are in screenshots in article

I have never done this before (I try to avoid going into registry) so I am not sure how you fix it. The link above suggested doing a system restore before the changes but that won't help you if you didn't.

I don't think it would require reinstalling all the programs again except for fact the updates for them won't work. You may need to edit their shortcuts to load them or it may not effect them at all.

Thanks a billion for the help!
