If manually installing the particular update that is causing issues does not work, and it often doesn't, you can use the Windows update hider tool to stop the PC from trying to download the update.
Go into Windows update, look at installed updates, and find which one is failing. Note the number.
Download the Window's update hide tool from Microsoft called wushowhide.diagcab from this page:

Select the update or updates that are causing issues and hide them. Your PC should then stop trying to download the update that is failing to install on your...
