Remember Ultima 9? I'm a sceptic, and will continue to be so, until after
the game is actually released.

Check the Ultima Code in my .sig.....

We can only hope. If it is 3rd or 1st person I hope they take note of
Gothic and Morrowind. Also, if you decide to make it a MMO, please for
the love of god, DON'T!

I would like to see some multiplayer aspect to it, but it would be nice
to have team play ala BG2, NWN, or whatever. I'd like to see it use the
Aurora engine so we can do mods. Oh and for the love of god please
build on to the universe and don't re-invent the wheel!!

Oh yeah. Though it has issues, Temple of Elemental Evil uses very
similar mechanics to JA2.

What muffed up the suspension of disbelief in Fallout for me was the
fact that your character was shooting a rifle at an enemy that appeared
to be less than 20 feet away. I hope it's more of a Tactical RPG. Oh
just make it exactly like Jagged Alliance 2 and everyone will be happy.
They even had practice with fallout tactics!

To shoot a rifle from 20 feet away and HIT someone you had to add some
mods to it (IRRC).

Oh god...Fallout Tactics...Interesting game, but really it wasn't that
good.

All of those & for God's sake, make the combat turn-based or at least
pausable RT...even though there's many RT games I really enjoy, I just don't
think it'd be FO any more if it was RT combat ... :-/

All signs tell it will be single-player first-person-perspective game with
real time combat. None of this facts actully say anything about the quality
of that game. One can screw turn-based combat and make real time one great
and vice versa, so let us wait and see. The most important is the sheer fact
that F3 is actually in development, so obviously there are chances that the
game will live up to the hype (yea, sure... ;])

Well, of course. BUT (& it's a big BUT!) it's much harder to make a
cerebral, tactical game in RT than it is with TB. Almost guaranteed it will
be a twitchfest which relies on player skill instead of roleplaying
character skills. Which will destroy the sense of immersion. Or they'll do a
hybrid like Deus Ex (which I didn't like at all btw) where they will take my
fairly good twitch reflexes & piss all over them with artificial
jerko-vision & lag routines just to piss me off for the first 3/4 of the
game until the char catches up to me. Either way, I can't see RT being done
right. Look at other classic examples such as UFO/XCOM -> Apocalypse...

That's why I keep my copy of Jagged Alliance 2 installed. Best TB combat
ever done, IMO.

Never played it. Are the mechanics anything like Silent Storm?

I'd say SS is a poor copy of JA2 (still good, though). It's mostly the
characters that are seriously lacking compared to JA2, the technical aspect
(graphics) is of course a lot better.

Well, *I* never played Silent Storm. 🙂

But if you're a fan of TB combat, you'd be well advised to pick up a copy of
JA2, I can tell you for sure--assuming you can still find it. And JA2 is so
close to being a CRPG that it might as well be called one, IMO. There was
an addon, too, although its name escapes me. Made the game very difficult
though, and I didn't play it much.

They haven't started working on it yet and there is no actual
information to tell us anything about the game. There are certainly no
"signs" of what you are claiming.

In Germany, it was even sold as a game magazine cover CD.

It would surprise me greatly if FO3 turns out to be a single-player
first-person-perspective game with real-time combat.

Greatly.

Why so surprised MC? Bethesda is primarily a single player game maker, so at
the very least it will be single player focused.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it ends up being "Morrowind with Fallout
skin".

I think we can do without the Ultima fags jinxing our franchise thanks.
