Fallout 4 Offical Trailer... No release date.

Looks really good, I never played any fall out game but sure am gonna play this one. When ever the release is just be happy it's gonna look amazing.

Yeah, I am really looking forward to Fallout 4.

I got bored of Oblivion to the point where I didn't even bother completing the main quest, but Skyrim was pretty fun and I even started playing it again. The only RPG game that I have played more than Fallout 3 was probably Morrowind.

I did complete Oblivion, but Skyrim just felt like more of the same. I didn't get into it; I may have if I'd gotten farther and experienced the new stuff. I did have quite a few hours into Morrowind as well. Honestly the open world is fun but I have a hard time staying into TES games. The immersion isn't there for me, but this is of course just my tastes. Something story-rich like The Witcher is more appealing.

Something about Fallout 3 though. I could walk around aimlessly and just explore. I still remember walking to Tenpenny Tower for the first time. It was tense; I was a low level with little ammunition and I was sure I'd run into some horror. Or walking into Megaton, being asked to disarm the nuke, and having the dialogue come up saying I could rig it to blow if I wanted. The atmosphere and apocalyptic setting were just better to me.

Fallout 3 is my most played RPG for sure; Final Fantasy X is probably second. Funny thing is I've never even played New Vegas for whatever reason, but it's sitting in my Steam library from a sale and I'm pretty sure this trailer will get me playing it.

TES is the only fantasy RPG series I play nowadays. I got bored fantasy style games sometime ago. The only reasons why I gave Oblivion and Skyrim a shot was because of Morrowind which to me is the best of those 3 games since it feel more like a traditional RPG. The quest log in Morrowind is far superior to the ones in Oblivion and Skyrim since it has details of the quests you are doing rather than just a single sentence or bullet point like talk to this person, or return to Whiterun. The quest markers are convenient I suppose, but it takes away from exploring and actually trying to find the place or object you need for the quest. If I need to find a book the quest marker will tell me exactly where to go, but how would my character know where to go?

Anywaste, I prefer the sci-fi genre nowadays. I am sure Fallout 4 is going to have plenty of quest markers too. As for Fallout: New Vegas, it did not grab may attention as much as Fallout 3 did. I played it once and never played it again. I went back to Fallout 3.

IIRC Amazon will do Dec. 31 as a placeholder. I've seen it for other games. My guess is the date is still TBA.

Any thoughts on graphics quality? Apparently there is an uproar about it not looking "good enough" and about Gamebryo in general. Looks fine to me as is, and it's not even finished.

Well hopefully Bethesda can shed a little more light at E3 (June 14th) about an estimated release date.

I don't mind if it is late 2016. I'd rather wait for a game that is more fleshed out / fewer bugs than play a game that has been rushed out the door with missing features / lots of bugs.

I think Bethesda released Skyrim about 9 months after they released the trailer. If Fallout 4 follows a similar timetable, then it's not a big deal.

Is it just me or did the character graphics and physics look disappointing? Seemed like 2010 quality. I don't know if this wass on purpose or if it's the Fallout style, correct me if I'm wrong.
Other than that looks awesome!!

I must say after playing other RPG's like Witcher 3, I HATE the engine Bethesda use. The characters and the worlds seem lifeless and almost robotic.

I suppose they don't use mo-cap. The animations do look really weird, yes. Almost all the Bathesda games are like this I suppose.

I'm hoping for a 2015 release date, although it seems very unlikely. But they've already started on the pre-order business, so it seems more near than far, I would suppose.

Only Fallout game I played was Fallout 3. I've never tried New Vegas, though I'm intending to, now with all the excitement for Fallout 4.

I've never played Morrowind. Only Oblivion and Skyrim, and I really loved those. I've heard that there is very little handholding in Morrowind and there's no fast travel involved either.

Yeah, Morrowind had very little hand holding, I would probably say it was virtually non-existent, but that was part of the fun. Animation and the combat system is pretty primitive compared to today, but mods can help improve it a bit. There is fast travel, but you must find a ship or use a silt strider (like that retired giant flea like creature in Dragon Born DLC) to travel to designated ports / silt strider locations.

As much as I like Skyrim, I like Morrowind even more. I have recently started replaying Morrowind, but I am currently searching around for mods since I misplaced the DVD to which I burnt all the mods I used the last time I played the game back in 2007.

I do feel nearly all the modern games today do tons of hand holding. And that seriously takes away the fun a bit.

For instance, in GTA V, there's a lot of hand holding involved. There was one certain mission (not really a mission, but things you had to do before hand so that the next mission could be unlocked) where you had to find three specific muscle cars. A guy would tell you the location and a photo of the car through your in-game smartphone. You are to find the cars by searching around the map and looking closely at the environment provided in that photo.
That part was really exciting, as I was able to find them without having any markers placed on top of the object...

Following the below link you can look at the trailer and some screen caps that have been compressed at a much higher bitrate than YouTube does. I still think the YouTube trailer was fine, but the difference is noticeable.

Here is a GIF that shows the difference.

Indeed, and stability will be a concern as Creation/Gamebryo has not been the best in the past. A new version of Creation will apparently be used for Fallout 4. We can only hope.

A couple of links on character customization and crafting, I can never remember which sites are deemed appropriate sources vs. click-bait garbage...

Reported release date November 10, 2015

I was actually hoping for October 23rd since on that day in 2077 is when the Great War started.

Regardless, I just hope the game had not been rushed to make it available for the Christmas holiday sales. As I stated before, I'd rather wait for a 2016 release if it means less bugs.

Given that they only revealed it, by AAA game standards, very close to its release date I get the impression Fallout 4 was anything but rushed.
They also showed off a lot at E3, not something a studio that was under a lot of time pressure would do I imagine. Especially given how the gaming community has shown in the past their willing to split hairs when it comes to trailers compared to game.
