Fan Configuration Advice for Cosmos S

Hi folks,

I have a Cooler Master Cosmos S case and I recently bought two more 120mm fans in addition to three stock fans (plus there's one 140mm and one 150mm for the CPU heatsink), so this is my current configuration right now:

There's an additional 200mm fan on the side panel, which I had to remove due to its collision with my oversized CPU cooler (Thermalthake Silver Arrow), but let's pretend it's there:

So, what would you change if it was your configuration? Would you set 200mm side fan to suck air from outside to inside or vice versa? I'd like to hear your opinions, thanks in advance!

Change the bottom fan to an intake and it looks good. Don't use a side fan, they generally mess up airflow.

I think you have too much exhaust. Forget the CPU cooler fans for the moment - they do their job of moving air from inside the case through the CPU cooler and discharge towards the upper rear exhaust fan. But they don't actually impact the intake and exhaust balance. You have four exhausts (two top, one rear, one bottom) and only one intake. I think you need to re-mount one of your fans to become another intake.

Looking first at the top pair, I think you should leave the top rear one as it is as exhaust - it will work in concert with the top rear exhaust. The top front fan, however, could be turned into intake to supply outside air that would be mostly used for the CPU cooling system. Alternatively, the bottom fan could be turned to supply outside air to the whole interior; however, many people find that fan position can pull in too much dust. That depends on your nearby situation, and on what intake fan filters you mount. You REALLY should mount filters on all intake fans, and then be sure to check and clean them!

IF you can get your large side fan working, you might not need to switch either of those two fans I mentioned. That (plus the existing front panel intake) might provide enough outside air for the case. Or, if you do, you could consider switching the top front fan also. That would sort of establish two zones - one at the top with good cooling of the CPU and anything in front of it, and another near the bottom that cools the entire rest of the mobo and case.
