Can I install the fan controller (Scythe Kaze Q8) OUTSIDE the case?

Thinking about installing it under the desk

will there be any problems by doing this? (heat, problems with fans etc)

Hopefully someone can help :)

the only issues that I can think of are
1: extending all that fan wiring to under the desk.
2: access holes for all that wiring. Dont forget grommets so sharp edges wont cut thru the wiring.
3: drop in dc voltage levels due to length of wiring. I'm not thinking this would be a huge deal since you use a fan controller to lower the voltage to the fan anyways, just dont expect a full 12v or rpm's at the fan.

would it be better to buy a "Scythe Kaze Master Flat"?

problem is that it has 4 channels and I will use 5-6 fans depending on the size of the CPU cooler

Can I use a Y-adapter to connect those 1-2 extra fans or will it slow down the fans?

the Xigmatek Midgard II case lacks 3.5 frontpanels.

Found some 5.25 fan controllers so I think i'll be good with that

Because some like to think outside of the box, no pun intended

@Op, I have an external radbox on my rig, the wiring is about six feet through tubing to the box and it powers a pump, cathodes and a fancontroller, there is no voltage loss over that length that I can perceive, I also have an extra power button wired in there
And as long as you observe basics like protecting the wire as mentioned, theres no reason you can't have anything anywhere
