My laptop is acer aspire 4736g, windows 7. It always happen before but not that common. But now it happens everytime.

I currently formating my laptop with usb bcs i thought it was the virus. In the middle of formating it shut off suddenly. Now i try run it again and it shut off during the loading "Starting Windows..". Before it shut off, the fan run at high speed and then the laptop shut off. There is no hot component at the backside of the laptop. Only i can feel hot air blow from the fan.

Now i am in the middle of that loop. Is there anything that i could do?

+ I already open the internal laptop and open and clean the fan inside the laptop. But still it doesnt help.

I was thinking the thermal compound but the HDD getting hot is a concern, so now I'm wondering if the HDD is the issue (it may be normal operating heat, they do get warm). I think I'll stick with replacing the thermal compound here, if care is taken, thermal pads (if used) can be re-used. Try replacing the thermal compound, see where you get.
While in there I'll suggest looking over the motherboard for any swollen or leaky capacitors and checking that the CMOS battery is at 3v (that battery going bad can cause strange behaviors)

I didn't remove the heatsink, just the fan. I have done formating the laptop. The thing I need to do is start the laptop and press f2 or let it hold before the loading "Starting Windows". The fan will run so high, after 2 minutes then I press continue normally and then it goes to startup.

But still the fan spinning so fast. It's like I was playing a game. Until some point, I can feel my hard drive was hot enough on the metal plate. Then it shut off. So is it he thermal compound?
