I need some recommendations for a fanless i7 heatsink. I currently have a 920 i7 with the stock cooler. The noise is driving me nuts though. I don't overclock the processor and as long as it gets better temperatures than the stock cooler I will be happy. Don't worry about the case size.

Thanks

You might try searching around this site:

but I think the best you will do is a cooler that will work well but work quietly when minimum cooling is necessary.

Here's another list showing how well coolers performed . . . and at what noise level:

Are you sure the noise is coming from your cpu cooler? Case fans can be chosen for quiet performance if they are the source of your problem.

The i7 920 is a 130W tdp cpu at stock. You are Not going to be able to cool it fanless. However there are plenty of good coolers that use 120mm fans that are near silent at low speed.

There are a few fanless 1366 Fanless Coolers' but as orangegator mention above you wil basically have higher temps, when not using a fan.

The Thermalright AXP-140 Low Profile 6-Heatpie Aluminum & Copper CPU Heatsink was specifically designed for HTPCs and small form factor cases. It performs like a high-end Thermalright product, with the ability to run nearly silent when using a 120mm or 140mm fan.

Below are some low decibel fans tou should check out.

All the fans above you can change out with the exiting fan on CPU Cooler and will still be alot quieter then that of your PSU Fan.

Hope this helps you out some.
