hi guys,
I have just got far cry 5 and am really enjoying the game, however every so often the game freezes for a few seconds, despite me usually running at a solid 60fps. could someone tell me if this is game related or whether it is my hardware? I have i7-7700 HQ, 16gb RAM, gtx 1060 3gb and have the game on a HDD. I am running in optimal setting (according to GeForce experience) and have already defragmented and optimised my HDD. could someone tell me what is going on?

Solution
A friend of mine had the same problem and it turned out he's harddrive is to slow to load in game files on the run.

So i sujested he tried he's ssd drive and that helped he's lag problem. I asume since your cpu is a i7 7700hq, you are running game on a laptop and if yes 2.5" laptop hdd are not known for being fast in the first place.

And if you have a ssd in your pc, i will reccomend you try the same thing by install fc5 on a ssd.

If i have understand i correct, it has something to do with ubisoft anti piracy protection software this can at time need alot of data transfer.

I have the game my self but on a ssd and that runs great with a old cpu as mine that is a i7 980x @ 4.25 ghx.

I think its the harddrive that just cant keep up.

This is not entirely true, his 7700 is higher than the recommended i7-4770, his 16 GB RAM is twice the recommended 8GB, and his 1060 3GB scores 8866 on Passmark compared to 8584 for the recommended 970.

The only area where it falls slightly short is on VRAM, but in reality it's only 512 MB short of a 970. That said, a 1060 6GB would be a much better GPU going forward, because 3GB VRAM will limit what texture setting you can use in some games now, even at 1080p res.

yes I have latest drivers on my gpu, and the latest driver update included optimisations to the game.

I have the game set on ultra textures and everything else on normal at 1080p with 100% res scaling, and I'm not really having this problem with any other game
