Far Cry: cannot install patch 1.3

ok, have reinstalled the program after a few months, now trying to
reinstall the patches. program says "1.3 is already installed"
(however it isn't, I did a fresh install with 1.0)
it gives me the option to "remove 1.3", however when choosing this, it
replies with "you can only remove installed programs"

Might be something left in the registry. delete any remains.

Did you uninstall the patches in reverse order before uninstalling the
game ?

Probably something left in the registry that makes it think it's already
there. Uninstall again, do a registry search for Crytek and Far Cry and
delete any remaining keys, then reboot and re-install from scratch.

Memo to self: 'when writing a game (un)installer have it clean out
registry keys generated by the patch as well'.

You might consider renaming your FARCRY folder to something else
(anything)..
and trying patch again ....Then rename it back again...

yes, it was the registry - there were two entries about patches 1.1.
and 1.3, after deleting those it worked!
