A little more about FarCry and the nV 'controversy' @ FiringSquad.

Quite and indepth look at how nV handles the game.

Another little bug to add to the list, water reflection issues. So how many issues until it becaomes a 'driver or hardware problem' worth mentioning/remembering?

It's funny, but I just wanted to point out that this is EXACTLY the kind of thing that Valve was hinting at on Ati's shader day oh so long ago
Yup, you hit it right on.

OK, Nvidia optimizations, looks like my new 9800 Pro isn't gonna go Voodoo on me as fast as I thought. But one thing I don't understand yet, when the 6800 uses the R300 ID, do things look the same as with the Radeon?

Abit IS7 @ 275 FSB, OCZ PC4200 RAM @ 550Mhz, P4 2.4 @ 3.3Ghz Vcore @ 1.625, Sapphire Radeon 9800P @ stock, for now.
Thermalright SLK-947U, P3 HS @ NB.

EB games, or EliteBastardz, just checked Elite, nothing.

Is it part of something else?

Hey Grape, interesting farcry read there at firingsquad. I am surprised that most of the eye candy is 1.1 shaders as I have seen a huge difference in visual quality between the R9800pro and a GF4Ti4200. I guess it is because of the playable settings I have chosen for each. I never tried to put the Ti4200 on the same settings I use for the 9800Pro, because even 1024x768 all medium seemed to lag a little and that was a 320/640 overclocked Asus Ti4200. I prefer to see little or no hesitation ever compared to a little extra eye candy and fps drops that are too low. Interesting though. I take it the NV benchies used the same very high settings as they did with the Ati Cards, even though they didn't spell it out as clear this time.

Of course I in no way tried to find the best NV driver for farcry either. I wonder what driver is the best for farcry on a Ti4200. Maybe there is a reason to try the newest ones on a GF4.

i tried a few of the new forceware's on my TI4200.. faster somewhat, but overall quite worse visual quality.. texture swimming is the worst part, and using AF to clear that up is not an option unfortunately

"Did you read the EB article on 9800XT beating 6800 in Far Cry?"

At what resolution?

Thanks, I still stick to 4403 and 4523 for the most part on Ti4200's. How about you?
