Sigh, prepare to be shocked at US prices.

Comcast 2Gbps $1000 installation fee, $300 a month. (24/7 support though)
Comcast 1Gbps $115 a month in selected areas
Smithville (local company) 1Gbps $65 a month selected areas (Indiana)

Myself, 75Mbps via Comcast though it really runs 90Mbps. In most areas this service is 100Mbps, I pay $85 a month.

I petition Smithville once a year to add service to my neighborhood. Right off their main buried cables too (They installed all the fiber, even Comcasts in the area). I work at a data center with 600Mbps service, just over a mile from my house.

Current: AT&T Uverse 80Mbp/s down, 20 up: $70 (suburban city north of Atlanta, Georgia USA). Keep in mind this price is part of a 3-way bundle discount with a cable and a land line. I'm okay with it because we rarely have down time. Maybe once or twice a year. I can't say the same about Comcast. Very critical for someone who works from home instead of in the office from time to time.

Coming soon: AT&T 1Gbp/s fiber for $125/mo. for current customers. While I don't really need that speed, it will help me download new PS4 and PC Steam games and updates faster instead of having to leave it on overnight to download everything.

We have Verizon FiOS and Comcast/Xfinity in the area to who are competing. So where I live the competition and alternatives are good. Unfortunately that is not the case in a lot of lesser populated areas on the US.

75/75 Verizon FiOS. Rock solid, no caps.
The internet portion of the bill is $70 with $50 long term discount. So internet = $20 as part of the 'net/TV bundle.

Total price, incl TV, STB's, taxes = $121
(if it were just me....that TV portion would go away... )

If I were to upgrade to FiOS Gigabit (960/920), that $121 would go up to $185)

Yeah but I love my AHC (formerly Military Channel) and NatGeo and Smithsonian channels, mostly for history and military stuff. NASA TV is cool too for watching live launches (LOVED it during the Space Shuttle days). I also like my Formula 1 and other Euro automotive sports racing. It's worth it to me. The rest of the 200+ channels are mindless spam as far as I'm concerned.

Home: Specturms 100/10 45 for first year goes up to 65 after
Work: ATT UVerse Fiber 100/20 40 bucks a month when bundled for first year I think. normally 140 if by it self.

Don't have Frontier (what Verizon use to be) otherwise I'd get FIOS at home but its a ATT ruled area :'(

Also In SoCal. Orange and Riverside county

Provider: Aussie Broadband
Speed: 50/20mbps (50mbps download, 20mbps upload)
Price: $80AUD per month
Location: NSW, Australia

Australian broadband is total crap. The new NBN network was a waste of $55 billion dollars. It's so broken and unstable. The NBN has turned from a next generation network to a politcal playing field. So much is wrong with it. Look at my speed test in my signature below, it's not amazing yet I am faster than 93% of Australia. It's crazy. I could rant about NBN all day, but I won't.

And @King Dranzer, don't say that US prices are expensive!! I saw a Spectrum ad while in the US, it costs you $30USD to get 200mbps + HD cable TV + phone!! Internet here alone costs $70AUD+, then cable TV is another $100AUD. If your regional like me, you don't even get cable! You get bloody satellite!

Phew. I need to calm down haha

Yes I completely understand your frustration. 2Yrs back we were in similar situation of having 10mbps speeds for INR1100 for limited 25GB that was provided by our government(I was completely frustrated by that). Then private Service Providers stepped in with crazy packages which are getting better time to time. Lot have changed in 2Yrs. Hope something similar takes effect in your area. The only thing we had reasonably priced before that was TV.

Are there any other private service providers who has no direct affiliation to government and its policies for the price cap. If there is only one Internet Service Provider in your area without any competition then you will not be getting decent speeds for what you pay any time soon.

The NBN Network max speed is 100/40. I can only get 50/20 because there is 800 metres of copper between my house and the nearest fibre node.

The NBN is a government company, which is why its so shit. If a private company took it, it'd be better. The funny thing is the government is trying to sell the NBN at a ridiculous price for what it is. It's an absolute technological nightmare.

Every ISP essentially has a government affiliation due to the whole network being OWNED by the government, and having to buy bandwidth/CVC off NBN Co. to give their customers internet.

We need Google Fibre or some private company to come to Australia and fix this!! 😍

@King Dranzer
And when I said "Australian broadband is crap", I meant our whole broadband network and infrastructure as a whole. Not the ISP, i love AussieBB 😍
