I have a system which will only let me add a pci card. What is the
fastest PCI nvidia card I can add ? Thanks. (Just not the Voodoo5,
though.)

Try to find one with a 128bit memory interface.

Different memory interfaces ?
I hope the 256mb version is 128bit interface.

Yes, many vendors cripple the bandwidth of their value-line products with
narrow memory interfaces, specifically 64 bit. That way they won't compete
with their higher end products. It's worth investigating beforehand as your
frame rate suffers at higher resolutions, especially when all the features
are enabled.

FX5600 are also available in a PCI version. For example:

They're expensive, but they're available.
