Fastest RPM 120mm fan?

Well these are 50% louder than the ones I have now, and the mini shop vac is a heck of a lot louder than that I'm positive.

I do have a problem already, though. Like a dummy I didn't realize the thermal take 120mm fans I have on there now are 25mm thick, and the Deltas I'm getting are 38mm.

I'll figure out a way to mount them without the original fan retainers. Maybe some stainless wire will work if I do it right. I'll post pic anyway and temp specs when they arrive and a video so you can hear the monster lol.
 
Id like to move as much air ass possible. I'm wondering which 120mm fan does this best? I have thermaltakes right now, they max at 2800 RPM's. I've seen a couple 3100 RPM fans on the market, I'm wondering if there is anything higher?

I overclocked a ThermalTake 120 to 11,380RPM before it blew a blade.

Im tossing the BS card on that statement!!! I dont believe that for a second!!

Of course not. It only lasted 105 milliseconds at 11,380 rpms, which closely matches 5-blade fan resonance behavior and the proportionality law relating the square of the lifetime before self-destruction and angular velocity. I'd done the math in advance so it's not like it was a big surprise but it was still a fun experiment.

105 milliseconds ehh??? How did you measure that? phht whats your equasion? How are you calculating instantaneous angular velocity?
 
How about this one.

Now just cut a rectangular hole on the side panel of the case and secure the two together. This will cool all your pc components and cleans dust at the same time.
 
Good luck man, those fans are EASILY louder than your average vacum.

Oh you know what might also be loud if you are into PC Db Drag racing :lol:

get a bunch of floppy drives and put them into RAID. I mean one floppy drive makes a LOT of racket, imagine 10 :)

A jet place taking off from 10meters is 90dba. I wonder how loud a CM Stacker 830 w/ 7 of those 60dba fans would be ??


VROOOM!!!!

My house has central air conditioning, when its one the vac itself in the basement makes a $hitload of noise, from 2ft away must be 70-80dba. Got to hook a bunch of those up 😉
 
I don't like water cooling, I've had two bad experiences one ruined my out of warranty mobo the other time killed my 7900gt. Both times the rubber hose(s) started leaking. I was poor at the time and I didn't have a way to replace the board for over 2 weeks which sucks when you game as much as me. And I had to wait almost a month to get a return on my RMA'd video card.

Not saying water cooling is bad, it just takes research quality hoses/equipment and more maintenance then I'm able to put into it.
 
better get two of em that way you can really simulate dual jets...

i'm running 6 200+ CFM 120mm fans in one of my computers.

it's a 12u rackmount case that sits in my computer room (currently housing 3 servers) and is designed for massive storage. it currently holds 2.5 terabytes but it's expandable to over 10 using 500 gig drives. if i switch to 1 terabyte drives in the future the thing could go over 20 terabytes with the capability to hold 26 total hard drives.

so... yeah... i want to keep that stuff cool, but i'm not going to be in the same room with the beast 😉 that's one application for the high flow fans, but generally you dont want them on a main use computer. unless you like shouting and wear headphones a lot.

jesus, why does everyone assume that storage is for porn? perhaps because THAT is what THEY would store on it?!?! exactly.

all my dvd's are ripped as well as many tv show compilations (sorry, no porn, i've been on the internet far too long and i've seen it all, nothing i'd like to keep around) i can sit down on the couch (with the girlfriend) and we can watch anything with 3 mouse clicks, lots of snuggle time 😉

You coudl seal it up, and connect it to the intake of your PC and the air would be forced out the exhaust and PSU vents. HAHA... i mean come on now, I have don't turn my 88CFM fans up that high on my fan control because there is a point where the heatsinks do not heat up fast enough for the fans to cool them off. It take some time for heat to transfer. But then again the only way you could cool it better is to chill the heatsinks or block and force the temprature to cool going in to the cores. Kinda like the phase change coolers.

60-80cfm is sorta getting on that edge where anything more would be a waste in most cases. although compact server racks and such would benefit from more airflow. A regular PC case with a big fat cooler would not.

I envy your HTPC setup. Once I get out of college and get my own place I'm building a PC with tons of storage to hold my DVDs and connect to a projector.

So... if you wanna overclock a fan... increase the voltage 😉

Now if you'll excuse me I have to get back to OCing my hard drives.
 
Just so you know it there's a limit on how much air you can force through a heatsink or radiator (SP?), after that all you get is more noice.

Not the fastest but great at moving air:

Silverstone FM121: 110CFM, 120x120x25mm, 17dbA, 800-2400RPM, 4 pin, plastic. Includes Fan speed controller.

SilenX Ixtrema Pro: 72CFM, 120x120x25mm, 14dbA, 1400RPM, 3 pin and 4 pin, aluminum.

i believe dicing machine probably has the fastest rpm. if i remember correct, the speed was about 60~100K rpm back to 10years ago.
wondered how fast they are now. :roll:

That's one solution. Creatively disturbing the space-time continuum is my favorite method for phase-locked fan/HD combos. Another is playing AC/DC records in reverse at 78rpm with the 7.1 output run through Mesa 4x12 cabs pumping an old Infinity sub servo epoxied to an inverted whammy bar connected to your power supply flux capacitors.

and of course there's that, it stores Virtual Machines (easier to test software on multiple os's), ghost images of hard drives i dont want to lose, software, all my website information, software information, and programming.

Just a dumb question but how to you increase the voltage of your fans ? i tought you could do that with speedfan but for some reason it's not showing my fans & voltages ...
i can only go to 100 % in the first tab of speed fan & thats it.

I personally have 7 corsair ml pro fans. 3 blue led 2 white led and 2 non led. They have interchangable corners and they are magnetic levitation. Very quiet and very powerful. I swear by them. I spent 25$ a piece on them, that's saying something.
